HON CHARITY NGILU COULD LAUGH ALL THE WAY TO THE ODM CABINET

Now that Raila Odinga’s ODM and Kibaki’s PNU party have agreed to form a coalition government on a 50-50 power and ministerial sharing what was predicted in our earlier post [reproduced below] about Hon Charity Ngilu is certainly set to be a reality.
Hon Charity Ngilu [pictured], MP for Kitui Central, and former Minister for Health, is certainly a very valuable supporter ODM has recruited. The former Minister has made a name for herself, always projecting a high profile with impact. She is a tough campaigner as evidenced in her 1997 presidential bid and during the 2002 General Elections which saw NARC and Hon Mwai Kibaki win massively and become Kenya’s third President.

It should be remembered that Hon Ngilu was instrumental to the formation of the current ruling party – NARC.She is very daring, which is her trademark. Although her rival, Hon Kalonzo Musyoka, the ODM-K Presidential candidate now calls the shots in Ukambani she decided to support Raila’s quest for the Presidency thru ODM.

Don’t be mistaken. Over the years, Hon Ngilu has cultivated close following in her Kitui Central constituency and Ukambani in general. She is likely to woo a significant number of women voters in Kenya to support ODM.She has done her arithmetics well.

She could surprise her rivals by retaining her Kitui Central seat with massive votes.Should ODM win the elections and Hon Raila forms his cabinet he would most likely want to include women. He would also need some representation from Ukambani community. Here is where Hon Charity Ngilu comes in.Whether through direct election or nomination,

Hon Charity Ngilu will laugh all the way to the next cabinet, should Raila win the forthcoming General Elections, later this year.
